New Commission: Hidden Cinema Beneath a Quirky Fulham Family Home

Monday, November 6, 2017

We’ve recently completed a feasibility study for a potential renovation, extension and basement excavation for an unusual end-of-terrace Victorian semi-detached house. It’s a house with character to spare and ample potential, but one that is also in desperate need for some love and attention.

And that’s exactly what our client plans to give it. At the very least, they want to replace all external windows and doors for a much-improved first impression, as well as completely revamp the interiors including kitchen, bathroom and staircase, and renew all mechanical and electrical services.

They will also, hopefully, be able to extend the property to the rear and into the ground below to create a light-filled, contemporary open plan kitchen/dining area, while the basement would house a gym, sauna, wine cellar and state of the art home cinema.

Our prospective designs would increase the floor by between 54-84%. The more you increase floor area, the riskier your prospects during planning, but developments on the same road have had success at around the same scale.

Hammersmith and Fulham’s planning council are very strict when it comes to basement developments, but we believe due to similar works in the area and our track record for ambitious, large scale basement extensions that we would have a high chance for success in planning.

We’re still at the earliest stages for this project, but hopefully we’ll be able to share more with you in the future.
