Planning Approval to Demolish Richmond House and Replace with Super-Sustainable Family Home

Tuesday, December 13, 2016

Dyer Grimes Architecture has planning approval to demolish a house in Denbigh Gardens and replace it with a new build that will complement its setting while performing to 21st century sustainability standards while providing a more open, contemporary living space.

Richmond upon Thames Council believes strongly in the importance of sustainable developments. While it may have been possible to convert the existing build to current standards, the cost and labour involved would have been so high and provide so little incentive for investment that it is more sensible to start from scratch.

The new home will provide a contemporary twist to traditional housebuilding, with a silhouette that largely matches the surrounding houses but with the clean lines and inventive use of glazing that define contemporary design. Within, it will be pure “now”, with open plan spaces and sleek interior design.
