Planning Approval to Extend and Renovate Building of Townscape Merit in Twickenham

Wednesday, November 1, 2017

Dyer Grimes Architecture has obtained planning approval and conservation area consent to renovate and extend a four storey detached house and Building of Townscape Merit.

Despite the planned extension being very modern in design, our experience in blending old and new in protected buildings – including our award-winning works on a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse – convinced Richmond upon Thames planning department that our design would be sympathetic and subordinate to the original structure.

The extension will provide a modest increase in floor area, with the primary benefits of the project coming from the reconfiguration of the internal space to allow for a more flexible and current style of living. Highlights include a new contemporary staircase linking all floors and a brand new garden swimming pool.
